most probably from the Tupi native South American language Kaa-boc, meaning "one who has got the colour of copper"

  1. (Brazilian) a South American descended from the indigenous peoples of Brazil. Also, a Brazilian of mixed Caucasian and Native American or Native American and African ancestry. Used specially to refer to people living in the Amazon Rain Forest.
