Coined by the console emulation and reverse-engineering communities and the non-Japanese video game players involved.

- An unofficial translation of a computer game or video game into a language that it was never marketed in (as opposed to a commercial translation), especially an English translation of a Japan-only video game and usually through console emulation.
- An IPS patch that applies such project.
- A production project of such translation.
