Etymology

First attested in 1604, in modern sense since 1665, from French idiosyncrasie < Greek ιδιοσυγκρασία "personal temperament" < ίδιος "personal," "private" (see also idiot, idiom) + σύγκρασις "blending", from συν- "together" + κράσις "mixture."
