Use of language codes

I've noticed that the translation sections of many pages use the internet domain names (like .de for germany). I find this practice very incorrect and suggest that we use the proper names of the languages before Wiktionary grows too big to do it easily. Not everyone knows these abbreviations so well.

The codes that have been used (assuming they're used correctly) are from ISO 639-1 for two letter language codes. These are often different from the ISO 3166 codes for countries.

In consideration of this, the practice has developed to use full language names. The codes for the most commonly used languages could be easily remembered, but when entries for Maori, Frisian and Volapük began to appear, the need to use full names was readily apparent.

The two-letter codes are from ISO 639-1; the three-letter codes are from ISO 639-2.
