The IE root is also the source of Celtic *makno- (Welsh megin ‘bellows’), Slavic *mošьnā (Old Church Slavonic мошьна, Russian мошна ‘pocket, bag’), Baltic *maka- (Lithuanian mãkas ‘purse’).
