From Greek ÏαλαιολιθικÏÏ (paleolithikos), from Ancient Greek prefix Ïαλαιο- "paleo-", from ÏαλαιÏÏ (paleos) "old" + Î»Î¯Î¸Î¿Ï (lithos) "stone".
