1. To fail to interest; usually used in response to something that was presented as exciting.

   The dinosaur island in Crystal Palace Park is underwhelming.

Usage note

Underwhelming is by some not considered a word, yet it is in the Oxford English Dictionary. It is the opposite of overwhelming, and it means that something is disappointing and/or depressing. (Ex: That performance was underwhelming.) It is the adjective form of the verb to underwhelm.
