Archiving of WS:VIP

I believe archiving the "new" alerts on WS:VIP would be a good idea and would clear up the page and make it easier to use. Since "new" alerts are not long-term, there are potentially of no use to anyone who views the page long after the "new" alert has been posted. For this reason, I think that the "recent" alerts on WS:VIP should be archived after they are no longer considered useful (for example, vandals filed in 2004 should probably be archived).

This would probably reduce clutter and make things easier to sort through. Opinions? 24 00:43, 2 May 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, man. I reckon ppl have been a little too harsh on you. The stuff in the "new vandalism" isnt new, is it!? I'd be all for making an archive page, or maybe putting the archives in a different page, possibly Wiktionary:Blocking guidelines --Wonderfool 23:11, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
Please do not archive WS:VIP. The idea of having that page is to amass enough data to block better. Splitting that data up does not make it easier to analyze. --Connel MacKenzie 04:51, 5 May 2005 (UTC)

User:Reginald Fu

I just blocked the new user "Reginald Fu" since he added an "ass pus" entry in the FAQ and created the joke article badger balls. But now I see he may just be a copycat and our usual offender since he also created the legitimate unmanned. He also added a "beer parlour" template to the top of a couple of other Wiktionary: namespace pages. Is there a way to allow him to defend his actions? If any sysop feels he should be unblocked and given a chance, feel free to user your own better judgement. — Hippietrail 09:26, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

If he wants to be re-instated he can e-mail you or another administrator, that's my opinion. Kevin Rector 19:04, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

Information about AP vandal

I have acquired the AP vandal's real name, phone number, street address, etc... Does anyone have any suggestions about how to use this? 24 27 June 2005 23:13 (UTC)

#Report him for cable theft at http://www.cabletheft.com
#Go to the library and pick out 30 magazines, rip out the subscription signup half sheets, sign him up, check bill me later, and then mail everything off. It will be a tiresome process for him (well the brat's parents) to call and then recall all those customer service centers claiming he never subscribed.
#Go to http://www.craigslist.org ,click over to his local craigslist.org subsite, list him under a man seeking man thread, and leave contact details with soft suggestive themes (all that is required).
Puerile, despicable, etc. ? Of course. The Karma cycle is in constant flux -- follow the flow.

Hello, I am User:Pinkfud. I'm the one User:24 thinks is your vandal. I haven't edited here for so long that I seem to have forgotten my password and can't log in. I'm not even going to bother denying the charge because you can easily have it checked out.

My IP is 68.0.135.113. That belongs to Cox Communications of Tucson, AZ. It's assigned to my router, and it's static. Other people do use my system, but I'm pretty sure none of them even know this place exists. I cordially invite the developers to run my IP against any and all vandal edits and publish the results! Then I invite 24 to either prove his allegation or stop bashing me. It's very irritating to browse through here and find this stuff posted. — 68.0.135.113 3 July 2005 17:36 (UTC)

Okay, I got Wiki to mail me a new password. Now I'm Pinkfud again. — Pinkfud 3 July 2005 18:05 (UTC)
Nonsense, I know who you are... There's certain things that the AP vandal has done which they wouldn't have been able to do without help from you. So either you are the AP vandal, you're working with them, or you've imitated them. 24 18:46, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
Now I'm really puzzled. I've been checking this board since my last post to see if you would respond. What arcane knowledge do I have that AP doesn't? Did I get elected "hacker of the month" and no one told me? Is it because I'm a MediaWiki guru? Okay, I am, but that works against your theory if you think about it. Hell, I could cause trouble that would make AP look silly! Why would I bother with stuff anyone can do? Or is it because I know how to mask my IP when I want to? Sure, I use Tor for that, and so do thousands of other people. I believe the various Wikis have most of the known Tor servers blocked as open proxies! And a final note: Your statement is inconsistent! If AP can't do what he does without my help, then I sure as hell can't be imitating him, now can I? Dammit 24, whoever you are, either produce hard evidence or get off my case. I made good contributions here and at WP before I lost interest, and I'm not in here screwing it up now. — Pinkfud 08:31, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
Wait a minute! Wait just a cotton-pickin minute! If you know me, then you must be from the "B&O". You're the one who caused the hullabaloo by posting our secrets on WP, arent you? And now you're after anyone you recognize from there. Only you really aren't JD, are you? It was never him. It's you! Bah!! — Pinkfud 08:50, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
I emailed Connel my reasons a while back, but he never replied. I can not say why here. Also, I don't know what "B&O" is. Are you sure you do? 24 17:23, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
Nice one. Now we can play railroads. Look, Beer Parlour is not the place for this. We're both going to get in trouble for arguing in here. My email is in my profile - talk to me. Cc Connel if you like. — Pinkfud 17:40, 3 August 2005 (UTC)
Why isn't the BP the place for this?
By the way, Mario, did you upload this? And this comment confuses me since you don't seem to have a single contribution in February.
Some day you're going to understand that you can't go around screwing with wikis and pulling immature shock moves. People are going to tire of your incessant bullshit and contact LE, so why don't you just give up your little game now? 24 22:03, 4 August 2005 (UTC)

Question one: Yes, I did. That was a long time ago, when the Mario Dinis meme was running around - same time as All Your Base. That image was my entry in the meme craze that ran on the B&O - and your knowing about the image proves you know what B&O is.

Question two: No contributions in February? [I expanded the Welsh dictionary] as Malcolm of Pelshire. Then I lost interest and haven't contributed since.

I'd say it's you slinging the bullshit. You've spent a lot of time gathering up old "evidence", and all of it is meaningless and out of context. You're someone from B&O, you're trying to slam me, and I still think you're the perp of the WP episode. — Pinkfud 08:40, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

I still don't even know what B&O is, and I can't find it on Google. Would you at least provide a link? 24 15:23, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

Okay, since you insist on doing this here. B&O refers to the colors of a website. No link! The site belongs to a members-only web community, and we don't want outsiders trying to get in. I'm an admin on their Wiki and a long-time member. If you really don't know, I'm not telling.

If your "evidence" is the fact that I made the Mario Dinis image and the vandal used that name, big deal! MD didn't last as long as All Your Base, but it was ubiquitous while it did. I would imagine there are many thousands of people who knew about Mario. Furthermore, I note that there was a vandal called Jandevries at the same time. Jandevries was a member of our community, and he was kicked out for causing trouble! Interesting.

I did use two user names to contribute here. I have personal reasons for not wanting it widely known that I understand Welsh, so I created Malcolm for those entries. May I point out that I never finished either project? If I had the attention span of AP, you would have large Welsh and mineralogy sections by now. One thing I have never been able to do is stick with anything over time. I don't even get around to updating my own websites! I get bored and move on to something else.

Finally, note that I have left all your allegations on here. I consider your statements libellous (sp?) and insulting, but because I do understand and respect Wiki etiquette, I haven't blanked any of it. You, on the other hand, seem to have no respect at all for Wikiquette or even common decency. Get off my case! — Pinkfud 18:12, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

"Jandevries" was a member of your community? I see... then I may have been wrong. Sorry, but I want to try to find this person and certain things led me to believe it was you (_not_ the Mario thing I posted above, that was just a random similarity I found, but since you say "B&O" was into it I understand what happened). But there's still one thing you did that I find weird; are you sure you don't know anything else about pelican shit? btw... Has "Jandevries" ever said anything about tacos? 24 20:18, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
I don't recall JD mentioning tacos, but another member does. I know who that is, and I don't think he would mess in here either. As for pelican shit, I did repost the Kenneth thing at Metababy and maybe some other places. I copied it from here because I thought it was funny. — Pinkfud 21:29, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

Vandalism

Hi. Just noticed some vandalism on the dog page. Can be found [here]. Changed the wikilogo to asspuss. Weak. Sveden 21:02, 15 August 2005 (UTC)

OK Scratch that. It's actually vandalism to the wikipedia logo found [here]. Doubleplus ungood. Sveden 21:09, 15 August 2005 (UTC)

vandalism of Image:Wikipedia.png (Wikipedia logo)

Because the "ass pus" vandal keeps vandalizing Image:Wikipedia.png by uploading an "ass pus" version over the Commons version, would it be a good idea to upload the Wikipedia logo on the local Wiktionary server and then protect it? I see no reason why the Wikipedia logo should change. --Ixfd64 21:30, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

It's a very distinctive method of vandalism that shows prominently in the logs. If the image is protected AP will 'move on' to some other form of vandalism, possibly more destructive. -- Nick1nildram 09:14, 21 August 2005 (UTC)

moved from pictures namespace

Ummm....is it me, or is the Wikipedia logo not supposed to have the words 'ass' and 'pus' around it in jaunty big orange letters?

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Image:Wikipedia-logo-en.png#filehistory

Either Wikipedia has a *really* eccentric new logo or this is vandalism. Um...it is vandalism right? -confused of St Albans

That was reported at WS:VIP and taken care of. Yes, that was quite positively vandalism. --Connel MacKenzie 10:17, 3 September 2005 (UTC)
