Used as a riposte and often as a counter-riposte to an insulting statement (and recently, even to non-insulting statements).
You're an idiot.
Your mom is an idiot!

Usage notes

Sometimes used to skew another person's words or as a non sequitur:

Ramen noodles are cheap and easy.

Your mom is cheap and easy!

This use of "your mom" is different from the dozens in that no response is expected from the first person, as "your mom" builds off of the original sentence. It is not a contest but a one-time retort.

The phrase is sometimes used as a complete sentence:

You're an idiot.

Yo momma!
